Our commitment to privacy

At Hapi, we take your privacy seriously. Unlike most transcription services, all your audio processing happens locally on your device. We never send your audio or transcriptions to our servers or any third party.

Data we collect

Email address (optional)

If you download Hapi from our website, we may collect your email address to:

• Send you download links and installation instructions
• Notify you of important updates and security patches
• Provide customer support when requested

You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.

Data we DON'T collect

Hapi is designed with privacy-first principles:

• Audio recordings: never uploaded or transmitted
• Transcriptions: stored only on your local device
• Usage analytics: we don't track how you use the app
• Personal information: no names, locations, or device IDs

How we use your data

Any data we collect (like your email address) is used solely for:

• Providing and improving Hapi services
• Communicating with you about the product
• Complying with legal obligations

We will never sell or rent your personal information. The only data shared with an advertising partner is the website activity described under Website cookies, and only if you accept marketing cookies.

Local storage

All your recordings and transcriptions are stored locally on your Mac in:

• ~/Documents/Hapi/Recordings/
• ~/Documents/Hapi/Transcripts/
• ~/Library/Application Support/Hapi/

You have full control over this data and can delete it at any time by removing these folders.

GDPR compliance

If you're in the European Union, you have the following rights:

• Right to access: request a copy of your personal data
• Right to rectification: correct inaccurate personal data
• Right to erasure: request deletion of your personal data
• Right to data portability: receive your data in a structured format
• Right to object: opt out of certain data processing
• Right to withdraw consent: at any time, from cookie settings

Security

Since all processing happens on your device, your data security is in your hands. We recommend:

• Keeping your macOS up to date
• Using FileVault encryption for your disk
• Setting a strong password for your Mac
• Backing up your data regularly

Third-party services

The Pro version of Hapi may offer optional integrations with third-party services (like cloud storage or productivity tools). These integrations:

• Are completely optional
• Require your explicit consent before activation
• Are governed by the third party's privacy policy
• Can be disconnected at any time

Website cookies

This section covers our website (speakhapi.com) only. The Hapi app does not use cookies or advertising trackers.

Necessary

Your theme preference and your cookie choice are saved in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device.

Analytics

We use PostHog (hosted in the EU) and Vercel Web Analytics to understand how visitors use the website: pages viewed, the referring site or campaign, and clicks on key buttons. PostHog may also record sessions, with form fields masked, to help us fix usability problems. When you request a download link we link this activity to a one-way hash of your email address, never the address itself.

Marketing (only with your consent)

If you click "Accept" in the cookie banner, we load the Meta Pixel to measure which ad campaigns on Facebook and Instagram bring visitors to Hapi. It records page views, download-link requests and clicks on the checkout button, together with technical data such as your IP address, browser and the Meta cookies _fbp and _fbc. Meta processes this data as described in its privacy policy, which may involve transfers outside the EU. If you click "Reject" or ignore the banner, the Meta Pixel never loads.

Changing your choice

You can withdraw or give consent at any time from cookie settings (also linked in the footer of every page).

Children's privacy

Hapi is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
